PITTSBURGH MODULAR ANNOUNCES THE FLTR LIMITED EDITION MODULE

The Fltr is a voltage controlled, analog, state variable filter. A distilled version of our classic Filter module offers the same warm and gummy sounds in half the space. The Fltr utilizes the same core circuitry as our Filter module so the sound is identical. The state variable topology was chosen because it allowed us to produce a very smooth and natural sounding filter, in addition to offering several filter states, each with a unique sound and energy all their own.

The Sound Remains
The Fltr offers a warm, organic sweep through the full frequency range. The lowpass filter is gummy and relaxed while the highpass is clean and defined. The goal was to produce a filter that does not have a single sweet spot. We worked to make every turn of a knob offer something musically engaging. Multiple filter responses are available simultaneously including lowpass, highpass, and bandpass.

The module is available now exclusively at pittsburghmodular.com. Production of the FLTR was limited to 60 modules and once it is gone, it is gone.

More information is available at http://pittsburghmodular.com/fltr/.

Pittsburgh Modular Announces the Analog Replicator

Cleaner, dirtier, brighter, darker, and more versatile than any other analog BBD delay line effects unit available, the Analog Replicator is the astounding result of over a year of ambitious design and engineering.

A New Beginning
The Analog Replicator was redesigned from scratch to be the finest analog delay available with a sound and feature set focused around the modular synthesizer.

Our original Analog Delay module grew out of the circuitry of a guitar pedal. The new Analog Replicator module does not share the same stompbox lineage. Michael Johnsen, Pittsburgh Modular's analog engineer, created a modern BBD core fed by a unique clock source and proprietary signal processing circuits. The result is a flexible, more musical, eurorack delay module.

How It Works
At the heart of the Analog Replicator is a pair of 4,096 stage BBD chips. The name BBD stands for [B]ucket [B]rigade [D]evice in reference to a line of people passing buckets of water to quickly extinguish a fire.  Each stage of a BBD chip contains a single capacitor. Pairing two chips together creates a chain of 8,192 capacitors.  Like the water buckets, an audio signal is passed from capacitor to capacitor within the BBD chips once every clock step. A slower clock produces a longer delay and a faster clock produces a shorter delay.

Multi-Mode Delay
The controls of the Analog Replicator can be used to produce a wide range of delay effects. The STAGES switch flips between 4,096 and 8,192 BBD stages. 4,096 uses a single BBD chip and 8,192 uses two. Using both BBD chips doubles the available delay time, perfect for echos and longer delays. Using a single BBD is useful for reverb and chorus effects. The SHORT/LONG switch drastically adjusts the delay range. The SHORT mode produces bright, clean analog repeats. LONG mode is dark and grimy. Mud and clock noise (whine) begin to leak in and eventually take over as the Analog Replicator reaches the longest available delay time of 2.6 seconds.

Availability, Price and More Information
The suggested retail price for the Analog Replicator module is $349 and it begins shipping to our dealers today. More information is available at pittsburghmodular.com/analog-replicator.

The Midi 3 adds a complete set of mono and duophonic midi response modes, assignable CC and dedicated velocity outputs, a feature rich clock source with tap tempo, midi and external gate clock dividers, and multiple arpeggiator responses to an already full set of features. The Synthesizer Box remains at the heart of the instrument. A semi-modular synthesizer voice module featuring a unique set of modulatable waveforms, a rich lopass gate filter, and a tight envelope continues to define the sound of the synthesizer. The suggested retail price for the System 10.1 synthesizer is $649 and it begins shipping to our dealers today. More information is available at pittsburghmodular.com/system-10-1.

STRECHING SMALL TO THE LIMITS

The Pittsburgh Modular System 10.1+ is an expandable version of the System 10.1. Housed in our larger Cell[90] desktop case, the System 10.1+ synthesizer includes all the same modules as the System 10.1 but with the extra space to grow. The extra space allows for an additional 42hp of Pittsburgh Modular or other eurorack compatible modules to be added to the synthesizer. The suggested retail price for the System 10.1+ synthesizer is $709 and it begins shipping to our dealers today. More information is available at pittsburghmodular.com/system-101-plus.

SOUND IS WHAT MATTERS

The System 10.1 and System 10.1+ offer direct access to a wide array of modern, analog monosynth sounds. Without a single patch cable, earth shaking bass and aggressive, arpeggiated leads are just a few knob tweaks away. Plugging in a few patch cables opens the Pittsburgh Modular System 10.1 Synthesizer to complex experimentation by offering unlimited control over both the modulation and audio signal paths. All of the elements of a classic voltage controlled, analog modular synth are available as an open, patchable, modern synthesizer.

FOUNDATION 3.1 and FOUNDATION 3.1+

A STUNNING CREATURE

Housed in our beautiful new Move[104] Black road case and controlled with the feature packed Midi 3 module, the Foundation 3.1 Synthesizer is the continuing evolution of a classic. The Foundation 3.1 is assembled one at a time in Pittsburgh, PA using handbuilt components to ensure every one sounds incredible. The core of the Foundation 3.1 remains the same, two huge Waveforms oscillators driving a pair of filters that are dripping with character. The suggested retail price for the Foundation 3.1 synthesizer is $1999 and it begins shipping to our dealers today. More information is available at pittsburghmodular.com/foundation-3-1.

A BIGGER DRAGON

The Foundation 3.1+ Synthesizer is an expandable version of the Foundation 3.1. Housed in our larger Move[208] desktop case, the Foundation 3.1+ has room to grow. The additional space allows a nearly infinite number of expansion options. The included black plastic blank panel can be easily trimmed as new modules are added to keep the case looking clean. The suggested retail price for the Foundation 3.1+ synthesizer is $2,249 and it begins shipping to our dealers in January. More information is available at pittsburghmodular.com/foundation-31-plus.

FULL OF FIRE

A standalone, fully modular synthesizer styled after the great monosynths of the past with no hardwired signal path or fixed voice architecture to restrict creativity. An all analog signal path driving massive oscillators and multiple filters pushes the Foundation 3.1 Synthesizer to new worlds of musical creativity. An unpatched Foundation offers a clean slate for sonic exploration and sound design and the open format of a modular synthesizer allows for greater control and a deeper understanding of synthesis.

Pittsburgh Modular Announces the Logic Banks Limited Edition Module

The exciting world of Boolean logic has arrived in Pittsburgh with the fifth module of our limited edition line.

Logic Banks is a CMOS based logic calculator. A voltage controlled or manually switchable truth table. Two independent logic banks provide simultaneous access to six unique boolean logic operations. AND, NAND, OR, XOR, NOR, XNOR.

The Logic Banks module is split into two identical sections. Input values for each section can can be assigned manually using toggle switches or with the X IN and Y IN gate inputs. The gate output state of each logic operation is determined by the X and Y input values following the truth table below.

The Logic Banks is capable of single bit calculations and simple memory processes. For example, patching from the NOR output of each section into the Y Input of the opposite section creates a last used memory circuit. The OR outputs will remain lit in the section with the last high X input regardless of the current state of the X input. Similar setups provide other interesting results.

The module is available now exclusively at pittsburghmodular.com. Production of the Logic Banks was limited to 50 modules and once it is gone, it is gone.

More information is available at pittsburghmodular.com/logic-banks.
